## Biography

Eric Heisserer is an American screenwriter, filmmaker, and producer. Born in 1970 in Norman, Oklahoma, he launched his career in 2005 with the sale of his screenplay *The Dionaea House* to Warner Bros.

Heisserer wrote the screenplay for *Arrival* (2016), earning a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. His other credits include *Lights Out* (2016), *Bird Box* (2018), *Bloodshot* (2020), and the Netflix series *Shadow and Bone* (2021–2023). He directed *Hours* (2013).

He has been married to television writer and producer Christine Boylan since 2010.
