## Biography

Eric Paice was a British screenwriter and playwright. Born on 13 November 1926 in Pevensey, East Sussex, he began his career writing for the theatre before moving into television in 1958. He contributed scripts to early series including *Armchair Theatre*, *Pathfinders in Space* and *Dixon of Dock Green*.

Paice wrote eight episodes of *The Avengers* between 1961 and 1964. He went on to work extensively on long-running series such as *The Brothers* (28 episodes) and *Dixon of Dock Green* (42 episodes), and created the science-fiction series *Star Maidens* (1976) and the adventure series *Buccaneer* (1980). He also wrote episodes of *Secret Army* (1979) and the mini-series *Kidnapped* (1978), and contributed to the Australian series *Boney*. In addition to screen work he authored the instructional book *The Way to Write for Television*.

Paice died on 6 July 1989 in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
