## Biography

Éric Serra is a French film composer. He was born on 9 September 1959 in Saint-Mandé, France.

Serra met director Luc Besson in the early 1980s and scored Besson’s first feature, *Le Dernier Combat* (1983). He has composed the music for most of Besson’s subsequent films, including *Nikita* (1990), *Léon: The Professional* (1994), *The Fifth Element* (1997) and *Lucy* (2014). He also scored the James Bond film *GoldenEye* (1995).

Serra won the César Award for Best Original Music for *The Big Blue* (1988) and has received several further César nominations.
