## Biography

Erik Pyryev was a Soviet film director, screenwriter and actor. He was the son of director Ivan Pyryev and actress Ada Voytsik.

As a child actor, he appeared as the young Ivan IV in Sergei Eisenstein's *Ivan the Terrible* (Part II released 1958). In 1954 he graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow State University. He directed the musical film *Melodies of Dunaevsky* and served as second director on *Our Mutual Friend* (1961) and *Man Without a Passport* (1966).

Pyryev died in Moscow in 1970, aged 38.
