## Biography

Ernest Truex was an American actor of stage, film and television. He began performing as a child and made his Broadway debut in 1908. His career spanned from 1907 to 1966, with numerous supporting roles in comedies.

Truex played the reporter Bensinger in the 1940 film *His Girl Friday*. Other film appearances include *Bachelor Mother* (1939), *Christmas in July* (1940) and *Dance, Girl, Dance* (1940). He also appeared in television series such as *The Twilight Zone* (1959), *Alfred Hitchcock Presents* (1955) and *Petticoat Junction* (1963).

He was married to the actress Sylvia Field from 1941 until his death in 1973.
