## Biography

Ernst Sorge was a German cinematographer, geographer and polar explorer. He worked as a camera operator on Leni Riefenstahl’s two-part documentary *Olympia* (1938), including *Olympia Part One: Festival of the Nations*.

Sorge had earlier taken part in Greenland expeditions linked to the 1933 feature *S.O.S. Eisberg*, for which he contributed to the screenplay and provided consultation. He directed the short film *Entstehung von Eisbergen an der Küste Grönlands* (1939). Born in 1899, he died in 1946.
