## Biography

Errol Taggart (also credited as William Errol Taggart) was a Canadian film director and editor who worked in Hollywood from the 1920s to the 1930s. Born on 15 July 1895 in Ottawa, Ontario, he began as a script clerk in 1918 and progressed to film editor, production manager and assistant director.

He edited several films directed by Tod Browning and starring Lon Chaney, including *The Road to Mandalay* (1926), *The Blackbird* (1926), *The Show* (1927) and *The Unknown* (1927, co-edited with Harry Reynolds). He also served as uncredited assistant director on Browning's *Freaks* (1932).

Taggart directed seven features in the mid-1930s, among them *Women Are Trouble* (1936), *Sinner Take All* (1936), *Song of the City* (1937), *The Women Men Marry* (1937) and *Strange Faces* (1938). He died on 30 August 1940 in Los Angeles, California.
