## Biography

Estelle Winwood (born Estelle Ruth Goodwin) was an English actress. She trained at the Lyric Stage Academy in London and made her professional stage debut in Johannesburg at the age of 20. She appeared in numerous West End and Broadway productions from the early 1900s onwards.

Winwood moved to the United States mid-career and took film roles from the 1930s, often as eccentric older women. Her credits include *Quality Street* (1937), *The Glass Slipper* (1955), *Darby O'Gill and the Little People* (1959), *The Misfits* (1961), *The Producers* (1967) as "Hold Me Touch Me", and *Murder by Death* (1976). She also appeared in guest roles on television series including *The Twilight Zone*, *Alfred Hitchcock Presents*, *Batman* and *Bewitched*.

She continued working into her nineties and died in 1984 at the age of 101.
