## Biography

Eunice Gayson, born Eunice Elizabeth Sargaison, was an English actress. She is known for playing Sylvia Trench, James Bond's love interest, in the first two Bond films: *Dr. No* (1962) and *From Russia with Love* (1963). She was originally cast as Miss Moneypenny in *Dr. No*, with the roles later switched.

Gayson trained at the Edinburgh Academy, where she studied operatic singing, and began her professional career in the late 1940s with stage and film work. Other screen credits include a leading role in the Hammer horror film *The Revenge of Frankenstein* (1958) and appearances in television series such as *The Avengers* (1961) and *The Saint* (1962). She also had a long stage career, including a role in the London production of *The Sound of Music*.

Her voice was overdubbed in the Bond films. Gayson died in London on 8 June 2018.
