## Biography

Fano Messan (1902–1998) was a French actress, sculptor, painter and model. She trained at the École supérieure des beaux-arts de Toulouse and moved to Paris at the age of 16 to work as a sculptor.

Messan appeared in two films. She played a telephone operator in *L'Argent* (1928) and the hermaphrodite (uncredited) in *Un Chien Andalou* (1929). She was photographed by Man Ray and took part in the Parisian cultural scene of the late 1920s.
