## Biography

Ferike Boros was a Hungarian-born American actress who worked in theatre and film. Born Ferike Weinstock in Nagyvárad, Austria-Hungary (now Oradea, Romania), she began her stage career in 1893 and later performed at the National Court Theatre in Budapest. She moved to London in 1903 and appeared at Covent Garden two years later.

After coaching in English, Boros had a Broadway career from 1909 to 1927, with credits including *Chicago* (1926), *The Kreutzer Sonata* (1924), *Rachel* (1913) and *The Wife Decides* (1911). She also translated the play *Seven Sisters* (1911). She moved to Hollywood in 1930 and appeared in numerous character roles, often uncredited, in films such as *Little Caesar* (1931), *Make Way for Tomorrow* (1937), *Love Affair* (1939), *Bachelor Mother* (1939), *Christmas in July* (1940), *The Talk of the Town* (1942), *Once Upon a Honeymoon* (1942) and *A Tree Grows in Brooklyn* (1945).

Boros died in Hollywood, California, on 16 January 1951.
