## Biography

Folmar Blangsted (6 October 1904 – 11 August 1982) was a Danish-born film editor who settled in the United States. He began working as a cutter at Paramount Pictures from 1929 to 1935 before joining Warner Bros., where he spent much of his career from 1944 into the 1970s. His first credited editing work was on *The Doughgirls* (1944).

Blangsted edited more than seventy feature films and television programmes. His credits include *A Star Is Born* (1954), *The Left Handed Gun* (1958), *Rio Bravo* (1959), *Colossus: The Forbin Project* (1970), *Summer of '42* (1971) and *The Other* (1972). He also directed two westerns in 1937: *Westbound Mail* and *The Old Wyoming Trail*. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Film Editing for *Summer of '42* and won an American Cinema Editors Eddie award for the film; he was a member of the American Cinema Editors.
