## Biography

Francesca Zucchelli, also known as Franca Zucchelli, was an Italian costume designer and scenographer. Born in Milan in 1938, she trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, graduating in scenography, and began her career with work in theatre and television.

She made her feature film debut as costume designer on *Frou-frou del tabarin* (1976) and *La bidonata* (1977). Zucchelli is best known for her work on Ermanno Olmi’s *The Tree of Wooden Clogs* (*L’albero degli zoccoli*, 1978), for which she received the Nastro d’Argento for best costumes in 1979. Her later credits include several films and the television mini-series *Il processo di Stabio* (1991). She died in Milan on 4 October 2022.
