## Biography

Francine Jamison-Tanchuck is an American costume designer. She began her career in the early 1970s as an apprentice in studio costume departments and worked as costume supervisor on the 1985 film *The Color Purple*. Her first credit as lead costume designer was on the 1989 Civil War drama *Glory*.

She has designed costumes for films including *Coming to America* (1988), *Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit* (1993), *The Negotiator* (1998), *Big Momma's House* (2000), *Just Mercy* (2019), *One Night in Miami...* (2020), *Emancipation* (2022), *They Cloned Tyrone* (2023) and *The Color Purple* (2023). Television work includes the pilot of *The Wire* (2002). She received a Career Achievement Award from the Costume Designers Guild in 2024 and designed the costumes for *The Piano Lesson* (2024).
