## Biography

Francis Edward Faragoh (born Ferenc Eduárd Faragó) was a Hungarian-American screenwriter. Born in Budapest in 1898, he emigrated to the United States before the First World War and studied at the City College of New York and Columbia University.

He wrote screenplays for approximately twenty films between 1929 and 1947. His credits include the gangster film *Little Caesar* (1931), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Writing, Adaptation, and the horror classic *Frankenstein* (1931).

Faragoh was blacklisted in Hollywood during the 1950s as a suspected Communist sympathizer and largely retired from screenwriting after 1947. He died in Oakland, California, in 1966.
