## Biography

Francis Lederer was a Czech-born actor who worked in European theatre and film before moving to the United States. Credited early as Franz Lederer, he played Alwa Schön in G. W. Pabst's *Pandora's Box* (1929).

He appeared in American films including *Midnight* (1939) and *Confessions of a Nazi Spy* (1939), and later took roles in television series such as *Mission: Impossible* (1966) and *Night Gallery* (1970). Lederer also continued stage work and taught acting.
