## Biography

Francis Seyrig was a French composer of film music. Born in Paris in 1927, he studied with Olivier Messiaen at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris. He composed for a number of French films and shorts in the 1950s and 1960s.

Seyrig is best known for his scores for Alain Resnais's *Last Year at Marienbad* (1961), written for organ, and Robert Bresson's *The Trial of Joan of Arc* (1962). He also wrote music for *Marie Soleil* (1964) and the television adaptation *Le Lys dans la vallée* (1970). He was the brother of actress Delphine Seyrig, who appeared in *Last Year at Marienbad*.

Seyrig died in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc in 1979.
