## Biography

François Boyer (30 March 1920 – 24 May 2003) was a French screenwriter, novelist and playwright. A graduate of the Institut des hautes études cinématographiques (IDHEC), he is best known for his novel *Les Jeux inconnus* (1947; later retitled *Les Jeux interdits*), which provided the story for the 1952 film *Forbidden Games* directed by René Clément. Boyer received story, screenplay and dialogue credits on the film.

His other screenwriting credits include *War of the Buttons* (1962), *A Monkey in Winter* (1962), *Weekend at Dunkirk* (1964) and *The 25th Hour* (1967). He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Story for *Forbidden Games*. Boyer also appeared as an actor in a small role in *War of the Buttons*.
