He studied acting at the American Community Theater under Maxwell Glanville and appeared in numerous stage productions, including several on Broadway such as *What the Wine-Sellers Buy* (1974), *My Sister, My Sister* (1974), *The Mighty Gents* (1978), *Joe Turner's Come and Gone* (1988) and *Two Trains Running* (1992).
