## Biography

Frank Barhydt is an American screenwriter and occasional actor. He is best known for his collaborations with director Robert Altman, co-writing the screenplays for *Quintet* (1979), *HealtH* (1980), *Short Cuts* (1993) and *Kansas City* (1996).

Barhydt studied journalism at the University of Kansas and worked as a reporter for the Kansas City Star and the Associated Press before moving to Hollywood in 1971. He later wrote for a health magazine, an experience that contributed to his work on *HealtH*. With Altman he adapted Raymond Carver stories for *Short Cuts*, earning a Golden Globe nomination for Best Screenplay. He also appeared as an actor in Altman's *Tanner '88* (1988) and *The Player* (1992).
