## Biography

Frank Cox was a British television director who worked from the 1960s to the 1990s. Born Frank Dixon Cox in London, he studied English at the University of Leeds, graduating in 1962. He began at the BBC as a floor assistant before joining the corporation's director training course.

Among his earliest assignments were three episodes from the first season of *Doctor Who* in 1964: the second episode of *The Edge of Destruction* and the final two episodes of *The Sensorites*. He later directed episodes of series including *Doomwatch*, *Paul Temple*, *Sutherland's Law*, *Warship*, *Take the High Road* and *EastEnders*. Cox also worked as a producer on programmes such as *Sutherland's Law* and *Take the High Road*.

He was married to actress Bridget Turner until her death in 2014. Cox died in April 2021, aged 80.
