Frank McRae was an American actor and former professional football player. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee, graduated from Tennessee State University with a double major in drama and history, and played as a defensive tackle for the Chicago Bears in the 1967 NFL season.

McRae appeared in numerous films from the 1970s onwards, including *Rocky II* (1979), *48 Hrs.* (1982) as Captain Haden, *National Lampoon's Vacation* (1983), *Red Dawn* (1984), *Licence to Kill* (1989) as Sharkey, *Lock Up* (1989) and *Last Action Hero* (1993). He also had guest roles on television series such as *ER*. He died on 29 April 2021 in Santa Monica, California.
