## Biography

Frank Morriss (1927–2013) was an American film and television editor with more than fifty credits from 1968 onwards. He began his career as a sound and music editor before moving into picture editing on television series including *It Takes a Thief* and *McCloud*.

Morriss maintained a long collaboration with director John Badham from 1974 to 2004. He edited Steven Spielberg’s television film *Duel* (1971) and Don Siegel’s *Charley Varrick* (1973), for which he received a BAFTA nomination. He won two Primetime Emmy Awards for *The Execution of Private Slovik* (1974).

His feature work earned Academy Award nominations for Best Film Editing on *Blue Thunder* (1983, shared with Edward M. Abroms) and *Romancing the Stone* (1984, shared with Donn Cambern). Other credits include *Short Circuit* (1986), *Bird on a Wire* (1990) and *Nick of Time* (1995).
