## Biography

Frank Orth (also credited as Frank Kaiser Orth) was an American actor. He began performing in vaudeville in 1897 and later appeared with his wife Ann Codee in an act billed as Codee and Orth. He entered motion pictures in 1928, contributing to Warner Bros.' early foreign-language sound shorts, and made his first major screen appearance in the 1937 western *Prairie Thunder*.

Orth was frequently cast in small supporting roles as bartenders, clerks or policemen. Notable film credits include Duffy in *His Girl Friday* (1940), a part in *The Ox-Bow Incident* (1943), the Opera Cloak Room Attendant in *The Lost Weekend* (1945), and appearances in *Father of the Bride* (1950) and *The Big Clock* (1948). He had recurring roles in the Dr. Kildare and Nancy Drew film series. On television he played Inspector Faraday in the series *Boston Blackie* (1951–1953). Orth retired in 1959.
