## Biography

Frank Partos (born Ferenc Pártos) was a Hungarian-American screenwriter. Born in Budapest on 2 July 1901, he emigrated to the United States in 1921 and began working in Hollywood as a reader at MGM before becoming a staff writer at Paramount Pictures in the 1930s. He later moved to RKO Radio Pictures.

Partos received screenplay credits on films including *Stranger on the Third Floor* (1940), *The Uninvited* (1944), *The Snake Pit* (1948) and *The House on Telegraph Hill* (1951). He shared an Academy Award nomination for Best Writing, Screenplay for *The Snake Pit*. He was an early executive committee member of the Screen Actors Guild, which he helped to found, and collaborated with screenwriter Charles Brackett.

Partos died in Los Angeles on 23 December 1956.
