## Biography

Frank Ross was an American film producer, writer and actor. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he graduated from Princeton University and began his career as an actor in uncredited roles in the late 1920s before moving into production at Hal Roach Studios.

His first associate producing credit was on *Of Mice and Men* (1939). He went on to produce *The Devil and Miss Jones* (1941), *The Flame and the Arrow* (1950), the biblical epics *The Robe* (1953) and *Demetrius and the Gladiators* (1954), and later *Walk Don't Run* (1966), on which he also wrote the story. Ross wrote the screenplay and story for *The More the Merrier* (1943).

He shared an honorary Academy Award for the short film *The House I Live In* (1945) and received Oscar nominations for producing *The Robe* and for the screenplay and story of *The More the Merrier*.
