## Biography

Frank Terry (born Frank Ernest Edwards) was an English actor and comedy writer active in silent and early sound films. He began his career on the legitimate stage, touring Europe and Asia under the name Nat Clifford before moving to the United States and working as a gag man for silent comedies.

Terry supplied uncredited gags and additional dialogue for several Laurel and Hardy shorts and features in the early 1930s, including *Sons of the Desert* (1933), for which he also wrote the words and music to the lodge anthem. He appeared in bit roles in their films, such as a safecracker in *The Midnight Patrol* (1933), as well as in other productions including *Bride of Frankenstein* (1935).

He retired from films around 1935 and later worked as a missionary chaplain in Hawaii before returning to California, where he died in Burbank on 26 October 1948.
