## Biography

František Uldrich was a Czech cinematographer. Born in Prague on 1 May 1936, he studied film and television image at FAMU between 1956 and 1963. He began his career as an assistant cameraman and camera operator before working as a director of photography.

Uldrich contributed to several films of the Czechoslovak New Wave. On *Daisies* (1966), directed by Věra Chytilová, he served as assistant camera (credited as Frantisek Uldrich) and appeared uncredited as an actor. He collaborated repeatedly with František Vláčil, including as director of photography on *The Valley of the Bees* (1968). He also worked with Evald Schorm and others on feature films, television and documentaries. In 2009 the Association of Czech Cinematographers awarded him a prize for lifetime achievement. Uldrich died in Prague on 31 August 2013.
