Fredrick Y. Smith (also credited as Frederick Y. Smith, F.Y. Smith or E.Y. Smith) was an American film editor. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he began his career in the United States before working in Britain at Gainsborough Pictures in the early 1930s. He returned to Hollywood and was employed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer for many years.

His credits include *Libeled Lady* (1936), *The Devil-Doll* (1936) and *Another Thin Man* (1939). During the Second World War he served in the United States Naval Reserve, attaining the rank of commander. He was a charter member and later president of the American Cinema Editors.
