Gardner Stern is a television writer and producer. He contributed as writer, teleplay writer and story writer on *NYPD Blue* (1993), also serving as executive story editor and later producer on the series. He worked as writer, teleplay writer, story writer and supervising producer on *Law & Order* (1990).

Stern has written episodes for series including *Class of '96* (1993), *The Practice* (1997), *John Doe* (2002) and *Las Vegas* (2003). He was co-creator and executive producer of *Breaking News* (2002) and held executive producer or consulting producer roles on *Las Vegas*, *Shark* (2006) and *The Art of More* (2015).

He won two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series, for *NYPD Blue* in 1995 and *Law & Order* in 1997, and a Producers Guild of America Award for *Law & Order* in 1997.
