## Biography

Gary Cockrell was an American actor. Born Gary Allen Cockrell on 4 December 1932 in St Louis, Missouri, he trained as a dancer and choreographer before turning to acting. He appeared in the London production of *West Side Story* and made his screen debut in the early 1960s.

He is known for his role as Richard T. 'Dick' Siller in Stanley Kubrick's *Lolita* (1962). Other film credits include *The War Lover* (1962), *The Americanization of Emily* (1964), *The Bedford Incident* (1965) and *Twilight's Last Gleaming* (1977). On television he appeared in episodes of *The Saint* (1962) and *The Persuaders!* (1971).

In 1964 Cockrell opened a dance studio in London, which he ran until 1977. He later retired from acting and moved with his wife Marie to St Lucia, where they opened a hotel. He died on 26 October 2018 in Davenport, Florida.
