## Biography

Gary Halvorson is an American television, stage and film director. He trained as a classical pianist at the Juilliard School.

Halvorson directed numerous episodes of sitcoms including *Roseanne* (1996–1997), *Friends* (1997–2004), *Everybody Loves Raymond* (1997–2005), *Sabrina, the Teenage Witch* (1996–1999) and *The Drew Carey Show* (1995–1996). He also directed the 1999 feature film *The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland* and has worked extensively on opera broadcasts for the Metropolitan Opera.

He has received multiple Emmy Awards and nominations, including Daytime Emmy wins for directing Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade specials.
