## Biography

Gary Mackay is a New Zealand production designer and art director. Based in Auckland, he has worked in film and television for more than twenty-five years, designing over twenty feature films and television dramas as well as numerous commercials and international events.

His production design credits include *Balls Up* (2026), *Ricky Stanicky* (2024), *A Mistake* (2024), *Haunting of the Queen Mary* (2023), *No Exit* (2022), *Shadow in the Cloud* (2021) and the Netflix series *Cowboy Bebop* (2021). He served as supervising art director on *Crazy Rich Asians* (2018) and *The Luminaries* (2020).

Mackay has received several awards, including New Zealand Television Awards for best production design on *Cowboy Bebop* and *The Luminaries*, and an Art Directors Guild Award for *Crazy Rich Asians*. He is also an artist and sculptor, and has been a finalist in the Wallace Art Awards and the National Contemporary Art Awards.
