Gary Markowitz is an American television writer and producer. Born on 21 May 1950 in Los Angeles, California, he is the stepson of Larry Gelbart, creator and original executive producer of the series *M*A*S*H*. He began contributing to the show while at college, writing or co-writing five episodes between 1974 and 1979.

Markowitz also wrote episodes of *Alice* (1978), *ALF* (1986) and *Eerie, Indiana* (1991). He created the series *United States* (1980) and *Fast Track* (1997–1998), and worked as a producer on *Elvis* (1990) and *Eerie, Indiana*.
