## Biography

Gary Scott Thompson is an American screenwriter, television producer and director. Born on 7 October 1959 in Ukiah, California, he grew up in Pago Pago, American Samoa. He trained as an actor at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, earned a BA from the University of California, Irvine, and an MFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Thompson wrote the screenplay and story for *The Fast and the Furious* (2001) and the story for *2 Fast 2 Furious* (2003). He created, wrote and executive-produced the NBC series *Las Vegas* (2003–2008), directing four episodes and appearing in one. Other film credits include *Hollow Man* (2000), *Split Second* (1992) and *88 Minutes* (2008), which he also produced. He co-developed and executive-produced *Taxi Brooklyn* (2014).
