## Biography

Gary Shaw is a British cinematographer. He served as director of photography on the science fiction film *Moon* (2009), directed by Duncan Jones, and later reunited with Jones for *Mute* (2018). His other feature credits include *Ill Manors* (2012), *Estranged* (2015), *Believe* (2013) and *Tommy's Honour* (2016).

Shaw has worked extensively in television, with credits as director of photography or additional director of photography on series including *His Dark Materials* (2019–2022), *Fortitude* (2015–2018), *Baptiste* (2021) and *The Burning Girls* (2023). Earlier in his career he contributed to visual effects and camera departments on films such as *Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets* (2002) and *Sleepy Hollow* (1999).

For his work on *Ill Manors*, Shaw received the Best Cinematography award at the Dinard Film Festival in 2012. He served as a jury member for the British Independent Film Awards in 2015.
