## Biography

Gary Weis is an American film and television director. He created numerous short films for Saturday Night Live in the mid-1970s, succeeding Albert Brooks as the show's primary film segment director.

Weis co-directed the mockumentary *The Rutles: All You Need Is Cash* (1978) with Eric Idle. His other directing credits include the television films *Diary of a Young Comic* (1979) and *Wholly Moses!* (1980), as well as the documentary *80 Blocks from Tiffany's* (1979). He also directed comedy specials for Steve Martin and music videos.
