## Biography

Gene Barry, born Eugene Klass, was an American actor and singer. He began his career on the Broadway stage in the 1940s before signing a film contract with Paramount in the early 1950s.

Barry played Dr. Clayton Forrester in *The War of the Worlds* (1953) and appeared as Grandfather in the 2005 remake. He starred as the title character in the television series *Bat Masterson* (1958–1961) and *Burke's Law* (1963–1966), winning a Golden Globe Award for the latter. He also had recurring and guest roles in series including *Our Miss Brooks*, *The Name of the Game*, *Murder, She Wrote* and *The Twilight Zone*. His final screen appearance was the 2005 film cameo.
