## Biography

Gene Gutowski, born Witold Bardach, was a Polish-American film producer. He produced three of Roman Polanski's early English-language features: *Repulsion* (1965), *Cul-de-sac* (1966) and *The Fearless Vampire Killers* (1967). He later served as co-producer on Polanski's *The Pianist* (2002).

After the Second World War, Gutowski worked in the United States, including as a production supervisor on the television series *I Spy*. He moved to London in 1960 and produced *Station Six-Sahara* (1962) before forming a partnership with Polanski. He also staged several plays and wrote memoirs.
