## Biography

Geoffrey Orme was a British screenwriter for film and television. Born Geoffrey Percival Orme on 10 June 1904 in Ilford, Essex, he began writing for the theatre before moving into film in the mid-1930s. His early credits included *Sunshine Ahead* (1936) and several *Old Mother Riley* comedies.

Orme wrote for television from the late 1950s, contributing episodes to series such as *Ivanhoe* (1958) and *Interpol Calling* (1959). He scripted the episode 'Man in the Mirror' for *The Avengers* (1963) and *The Underwater Menace* (1967) for *Doctor Who*, one of his final television works. He also provided additional material for the 1967 feature film *The Long Duel*.

Orme died on 21 January 1978 in East Sussex.
