## Biography

George Axelrod (9 June 1922 – 21 June 2003) was an American screenwriter, producer and playwright. He began his career writing for radio and television before achieving success as a playwright with *The Seven Year Itch* (1952).

His screenplays include adaptations of *Breakfast at Tiffany's* (1961) and *The Manchurian Candidate* (1962), on which he also served as producer. He received an Academy Award nomination for the former. Other credits include *Bus Stop* (1956), *Paris When It Sizzles* (1964) and *How to Murder Your Wife* (1965). He later directed *Lord Love a Duck* (1966).
