## Biography

George Bowers was an American film editor and director. Born in the Bronx, New York, he began working as an assistant editor at ABC immediately after high school and later trained under editor Hugh Robertson. He served in the US Army before accumulating nearly thirty feature editing credits from 1970 to 2008.

His editing work includes *A League of Their Own* (1992), *Sleeping with the Enemy* (1991), *Money Train* (1995), *From Hell* (2001) and *Walking Tall* (2004). He collaborated extensively with directors Penny Marshall and Joseph Ruben. Bowers also directed *My Tutor* (1983) and *Private Resort* (1985). He was a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the American Cinema Editors.

Bowers died in Los Angeles on 18 August 2012, aged 68, from complications following heart surgery.
