## Biography

George Edward Bruns (1914–1983) was an American composer of film and television music. He is known for his work on numerous Walt Disney productions from the 1950s to the 1970s, including the scores for *Sleeping Beauty* (1959), *One Hundred and One Dalmatians* (1961), *The Sword in the Stone* (1963), *The Jungle Book* (1967), *The Aristocats* (1970) and *Robin Hood* (1973).

A native of Sandy, Oregon, Bruns began playing piano as a child and later worked as a musician and bandleader in the Portland area. He moved to Los Angeles in the late 1940s and joined the Disney studio in 1953 as an arranger, eventually serving as its musical director until his retirement in 1976. He received four Academy Award nominations for his Disney scores.
