George Furth (born George Schweinfurth) was an American actor and playwright. He was born on 14 December 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, and died on 11 August 2008 in Santa Monica, California.

Furth trained at Northwestern University and Columbia University. He made his Broadway debut as an actor in 1961 and appeared in numerous films and television series. His film roles include Woodcock in *Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid* (1969), a part in *Blazing Saddles* (1974), and appearances in *The Cannonball Run* (1981) and *The Man with Two Brains* (1983). Television credits include episodes of *I Dream of Jeannie* (1965), *Little House on the Prairie* (1974), *The Nanny* (1993) and *Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman* (1993).

Furth also wrote for the stage. He collaborated with Stephen Sondheim on the musical *Company* (1970), for which he won a Tony Award for the book, and on *Merrily We Roll Along* (1981). His other plays include *Twigs* (1971).
