He was born on 14 December 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, and died on 11 August 2008 in Santa Monica, California. Furth trained at Northwestern University and Columbia University. He made his Broadway debut as an actor in 1961 and appeared in numerous films and television series. His film roles include Woodcock in *Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid* (1969), a part in *Blazing Saddles* (1974), and appearances in *The Cannonball Run* (1981) and *The Man with Two Brains* (1983).
