George Henry Irving (5 October 1874 – 11 September 1961) was an American actor and director. He began his career as a theatre actor before moving to Hollywood in 1914. Initially working as an actor-director, he directed around 35 silent films before concentrating exclusively on acting from the mid-1920s onwards.

Irving appeared in over 250 films, typically in supporting roles as stern figures of authority. He is known for his performances as Robert Wentworth in *Coquette* (1929) and as the lawyer Alexander Peabody in *Bringing Up Baby* (1938). His screen credits also include *A Night at the Opera* (1935), *Wings* (1927) and *Island of Lost Souls* (1932).

He continued working into the 1950s with occasional television roles.
