## Biography

George M. Cohan was an American actor, composer, playwright, producer and performer. He wrote, composed, produced and appeared in more than three dozen Broadway musicals beginning with *Little Johnny Jones* in 1904.

Cohan published more than 300 songs, including the standards "Give My Regards to Broadway", "The Yankee Doodle Boy", "You're a Grand Old Flag" and "Over There". He is credited with stock music on the 1933 film *Sons of the Desert*.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he died in New York on 5 November 1942.
