George Maharis was an American actor. He was born on 1 September 1928 in Astoria, Queens, New York City, and died on 24 May 2023.

He portrayed Buz Murdock in the first three seasons of the television series *Route 66* (1960–1963). Maharis appeared in the film *Exodus* (1960) and played Count Machelli in *The Sword and the Sorcerer* (1982). He guest-starred in series including *Mission: Impossible* (1966), *Kojak* (1973), *Fantasy Island* (1978), *The Bionic Woman* (1976), *Night Gallery* (1970) and *Murder, She Wrote* (1984), and starred in the short-lived series *The Most Deadly Game* (1970). He also recorded several pop music albums.
