## Biography

George Memmoli (3 August 1938 – 20 May 1985) was an American actor. Born in Queens, New York City, he was a founding member of the improv comedy troupe Ace Trucking Company.

Memmoli was a friend and frequent collaborator of director Martin Scorsese. He appeared as Joey in *Mean Streets* (1973), Nicky in *New York, New York* (1977), and contributed to the documentary *American Boy: A Profile of Steven Prince* (1978). Other film roles include Philbin in *Phantom of the Paradise* (1974), Jenkins in *Blue Collar* (1978), and the Ice Rink Attendant in *Rocky* (1976). He also appeared in television series including *Hello, Larry*, *Laverne & Shirley*, *Diff'rent Strokes*, *Hill Street Blues*, and *The Rockford Files*.

Memmoli's final screen role was in *The Sure Thing* (1985). He died in Los Angeles, California.
