## Biography

George Nicholls Jr. (also credited as George Nichols Jr.) was an American film editor and director. Born in San Francisco in 1897, he began working in the industry during the silent era as a second assistant director on *Intolerance: Love's Struggle Throughout the Ages* (1916).

In the early 1930s he edited a number of features, including an uncredited credit on *A Farewell to Arms* (1932). He later directed films such as *Anne of Green Gables* (1934), *Chatterbox* (1936), *Man of Conquest* (1939), *Army Girl* (1938), *High School* (1940) and *The Marines Fly High* (1940). Nicholls died in Los Angeles in 1939.
