## Biography

George Relph (27 January 1888 – 24 April 1960) was an English actor. He appeared in more than a dozen films and many stage productions, including numerous Shakespearean roles.

Relph made his London debut in *Hamlet* in 1909. He served in the British Army during the First World War and was wounded in the leg. His son, Michael Relph, became a film producer. He was appointed CBE for services to drama.

His film roles include the Vicar Sam Weech in *The Titfield Thunderbolt* (1953) and his final screen appearance as Tiberius Caesar in *Ben-Hur* (1959), released five months before his death in London.
